Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Manipulation mechanisms of bubble aggregation and evolution in inertial cavitation fields

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry
Spherical bubble clusters was observed at 28 kHz and 40 kHz, and the evolution of the clusters was investigated. It was found that the cluster was dense when it located at the antinode of standing waves, while it became sparse when it deviates from the ...

Propensity-score-matching analysis to compare efficacy and safety between 16-gauge and 18-gauge needle in ultrasound-guided biopsy for peripheral pulmonary lesions

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2021
Background Definitive diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) depends on the histological analysis of the pleural biopsy sample. Ultrasound (US)-guided sampling is now standard practice in the clinical setting.

Percutaneous ablation of colorectal liver metastases: a comparison between the outcomes of grayscale US guidance and Sonazoid CEUS Kupffer phase guidance using propensity score matching

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hyperthermia, 2023
Purpose To assess the utility of Sonazoid contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for guiding percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) for colorectal liver metastases (CRLMs).Materials and Methods The medical records of patients who had undergone ultrasound (US)

Teaching ultrasonics using spreadsheets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Whenever an ultrasonic wave encounters a boundary between two media it is partially reflected and refracted, as any acoustic wave would be. Unlike light, the wave also undergoes mode conversion so that in the general case a single incident wave could ...

A match coefficient approach for damage imaging in structural components by ultrasonic synthetic aperture focus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ultrasonic Synthetic Aperture Focus (SAF) techniques are commonly used to image structural defects. In this paper, a variation of SAF based on ideas borrowed from Matched Field Processing (MFP) is evaluated to reduce artifacts and sidelobes of the ...

The Fate (Outcome) of Clinically Apparent Single Lesion and Oligofocal Nephroblastomatosis Treated According to SIOP/GPOH Protocols for Wilms Tumor

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The management of clinically apparent single lesions or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis, a facultative precursor of nephroblastoma, remains debated. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 37 patients with clinically apparent single or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis (two to three lesions per kidney) among 2347 patients registered between

Differential diagnosis between hepatic alveolar echinococcosis and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma with conventional ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound

open access: yesBMC Medical Imaging, 2020
Background Misclassifications of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis (HAE) as intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) may lead to inappropriate treatment strategies.

Critical Ultrasonics Near the Superfluid Transition : Finite Size Effects

open access: yes, 1998
The suppression of order parameter fluctuations at the boundaries causes the ultrasonic attenuation near the superfluid transition to be lowered below the bulk value.
