Ultrastructural Pathology, 1994
Twenty-six ependymomas were studied by light and electron microscopy. By electron microscopy, the acellular zones around small vessels in light microscopic sections were seen to be composed of large numbers of closely packed, filament-rich, cytoplasmic processes ringing small vessels.

The Ultrastructure of Rhabdomyosarcoma
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1970The ultrastructural features of one embryonal and two pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcomas in adults are described. The presence of thick myofilaments in formations suggesting sarcomeres and a rare arrangement of mitochondria in tandem allow for identification of the spindle cells in embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma as skeletal muscle cells.

The Ultrastructure of Chordoma
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1970Electron microscopic examination of two chordomas provided evidence to clarify the histogenesis of the cytoplasmic vacuoles which characterize the light microscopic appearance of some of their cellular elements. Small vacuoles found in cells with “foamy cytoplasm” appear to represent dilated cisterns of coarse endoplasmic reticulum, whereas large forms

Ultrastructure of the neurohypophysis
Microscopy Research and Technique, 1992AbstractThis review summarizes our current knowledge of the ultrastructure of the human neurohypophysis and includes comments on its anatomy, physiology, and embryology. The neurohypophysis represents a unique tissue having neural and endocrine characteristics and possessing ultrastructural features distinct from those of conventional endocrine organs ...

The ultrastructure of oligodendrogliomas
Neurosurgical Review, 1981Seven Oligodendrogliomas (2 with uniform cell type, 4 with cellular or tissue variability, and 1 with glioblastomatous changes) were examined ultrastructurally. The tumor cells were of two principal types with morphologic transitions between the two main types.

The ultrastructure of medulloblastomas
Acta Neuropathologica, 19709 medulloblastomas were investigated by electron microscopy. They all showed a rather unique histological and cytological structure. The cells were differently shaped, had in general many cytoplasmic processes and only few organells. Special differentiations which would have made tumour elements look like glial or neural cells were not observed when ...

The ultrastructure of meningopneumonitis
Virology, 1964Abstract The ultrastructure of intracellular, crude, purified, and freon-treated meningopneumonitis (MP) from allantoic fluid of infected hen's eggs were examined using techniques of high resolution electron microscopy. The external and internal characteristics of the particles were revealed by thin sectioning and negative staining techniques ...

The ultrastructure of the ependymoblastoma
Acta Neuropathologica, 1986The ependymoblastoma is a rare, primitive neuroectodermal tumor morphologically distinct from the ependymoma and the malignant or anaplastic ependymoma. This neoplasm is characterized by uniform neuroepithelial cells, ependymoblastic rosettes, perivascular pseudorosettes and numerous mitotic figures. The fine structure of this neoplasm is characterized

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1969
Xanthelasma from both upper eyelids of a patient were examined by electron microscopy. The cytoplasm of the foam cells was filled with lipid droplets that were not bounded by a membrane. The lipid itself dissolved out during tissue preparation despite osmium or glutaraldehyde-osmium fixation, indicating that the lipid is highly unsaturated.
