Monoamine Oxidase and Cholinesterase Inhibition Profiles of Semicarbazone and Thiosemicarbazone Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 6, June 2026.
Thiosemicarbazones generally show higher MAO‐B inhibitory potential than their corresponding semicarbazones, and particularly T6 is the most potent, which contains R = H and X = S in its Tail Unit, with an IC50 value of 6.45 µM with SI of 3.6. ABSTRACT Twenty semicarbazone and thiosemicarbazone derivatives (T1–T20) were synthesized and evaluated for ...

Microorganisms Control Litter Decomposition and Drive Grassland Soil C Stabilization by Regulating Exoenzymes

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology Communications, Volume 1, Issue 2, June 2026.
Grazing exclusion increased the percentage of litter‐derived C incorporation into both labile and stable SOC pools because of the higher litter quantity and microbial activities than that in the grazed grasslands. ABSTRACT Litter decomposition and microbial activity are important factors affecting soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration in the ...

Ultraviolet Extinction Sky Survey (UVESS): A mission concept for probing the interstellar medium in the Milky Way and Local Group galaxies

open access: yes
The 2175 Å bump shows considerable variations in its strength, width, and central wavelength when observed along different sightlines in the Milky Way and other galaxies.

Embodied Intelligence for Soil Health toward Sustainable Smart Agriculture: Sensing the Soil with Flexible Geotextiles Sensors

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review examines the transition from rigid to flexible soil sensing technologies in the context of soil as a dynamic and heterogeneous environment. By integrating sensor types, sensing modalities, materials, fabrication and deployment strategies, and IoT‐enabled energy and communication approaches, it highlights geotextiles as scalable sensing ...

Recent advances in organic broad‐spectrum photodetection materials and devices

open access: yesInfoMat, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review systematically outlines the evolution of organic photodetectors from fullerene‐based to advanced non‐fullerene acceptors, highlighting how molecular engineering (e.g., D–A, quinoidal, and A‐D‐A′‐D‐A architectures) extends spectral response into the short‐wave infrared region.

Teaching Occlusal Splints in the Digital Age: Comparing Student Experiences With Conventional and CAD/CAM Workflows

open access: yesJournal of Dental Education, Volume 90, Issue 6, Page 904-913, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The teaching of occlusal splint therapy in dental education is evolving with the integration of digital workflows. Although digital tools offer operational advantages, conventional methods remain pedagogically relevant. Understanding students’ perceptions of both approaches is essential for guiding curriculum innovation.

A Comparative Analysis of the Critical Resilience and Gender Equity of Mothers Impacted by Albinism: Promising Practices From Tanzania and South Africa

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Women bear the brunt of human rights violations faced by persons with albinism. Our ethnographic study showed that critical resilience comes about through social relationships, collective practices, and identities present in communities (local and national). We identified six promising practices in Tanzania and South Africa to strengthen gender equity.
