Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences, 2010
The chemistry, photostability and mechanism of action of ultraviolet filters are reviewed. The worldwide regulatory status of the 55 approved ultraviolet filters and their optical properties are documented. The photostabilty of butyl methoxydibenzoyl methane (avobenzone) is considered and methods to stabilize it in cosmetic formulations are presented.

Ultraviolet guardian - real time ultraviolet monitoring
Proceedings of the 2nd ACM international workshop on Pervasive Wireless Healthcare, 2012Geographic location, environmental properties, and altitude are factors that contribute to the increase or decrease of the pedestrians ultraviolet (UV) exposure. Over-exposure can cause severe skin damage, possibly leading to skin cancer. This work proposes an algorithm for estimating the pedestrians UVA and UVB exposure along a path in an urban ...

Nosocomial Ultraviolet Keratoconjunctivitis
Infection Control, 1982AbstractA series of five successive cases of ultraviolet-induced erythroderma and keratoconjunctivitis, occurring over a one-month period and related to exposure to an improperly installed ultraviolet light are described. Although in this series, as well as others reviewed, the effects appeared self-limited, significant associated morbidity was ...

Corneal Ultraviolet Phototherapy
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1962The low-pressure mercury vapor lamp has unique and highly desirable features for corneal ultraviolet phototherapy. The emitted rays are highly germicidal, 1 virtually monochromatic at 2,537 A.,1 and totally absorbed by the cornea 2 with low keratitis effect.
