The occurrence of vitiligo after psoralens and ultraviolet A therapy

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1983
The ability of photochemotherapy with 8-methoxypsoralen in conjunction with high-intensity long-wave ultraviolet light (PUVA) to stimulate melanogenesis is well known. This effect on the pigmentary system is evidenced by the diffuse tanning of clinically normal skin in PUVA-treated patients with psoriasis and other disorders, as well as by the ...

Instruments for Measuring Ultraviolet Radiation and the Unit of Dosage in Ultraviolet Therapy

The British Journal of Radiology, 1930
In this paper the following topics are discussed: 1. It is pointed out that time and expense do not permit the general office use of complicated apparatus to determine the intensity of the ultraviolet radiation used for therapeutic purposes; that reliable simple dosage meters do not appear to be available for general use; that by proper standardization

Ultraviolet recall associated with etoposide and cyclophosphamide therapy

Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 1993
Ultraviolet recall (UR) or sunburn reactivation is an infrequently reported phenomenon. It is characterized by an erythematous eruption in the distribution of previous ultraviolet-induced sunburn. The timing of the eruption correlates well with the speculation that it is induced by the administration of a chemotherapeutic agent(s).

Ultraviolet blood irradiation therapy

The American Journal of Surgery, 1947

Confirmation of our original preliminary findings was observed. These findings showed that ultraviolet blood irradiation therapy was a rapid, efficient and non-specific control of ...

Ultraviolet Radiation Therapy of Atopic Eczema

1991
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation has been used as a therapeutic modality in the treatment of atopic eczema for many decades, but only in the past decade have there been attempts at controlled evaluation of this treatment. Thus, we are beginning to move towards a position of knowing whether UV radiation is useful in atopic eczema, but before reaching that ...
