Fluid Flow Control in Cotton Threads with Mesoporous Silica Coatings

Silica‐based coatings design the wettability of cotton threads from highly hydrophilic to hydrophobic showing water exclusion which results into gradual adjustment of fluid imbibition velocity. Integrated into thread networks a directed liquid transport including imbibition acceleration, reduction, as well as fluid barriers is demonstrated.
