A molecular systematic study of Ulva (Ulvaceae, Ulvales) from the northeast Pacific
Phycologia, 2004Abstract Species delineation in the genus Ulva is difficult due to a lack of distinguishing morphological characters and the high degree of phenotypic plasticity observed in these algae; thus, species descriptions are necessarily based on a limited set of characters.

Ulva fasciata Delile (Ulvaceae, Chlorophycota): a species newly introduced into Pacific Mexico
Botanica Marina, 2005Ulva fasciata Delile is reported for the first time as an introduced species along the coast of the Baja California Peninsula. In 2002–2003, populations of U. fasciata were observed at only three sites (Monalisa Beach, El Faro Beach and mouth of Punta Banda Estuary) on the eastern side of Todos Santos Bay, Baja California, Mexico. The variation in mean

Abstract Macroalgal blooms are a growing environmental problem in eutrophicated coastal ecosystems. Members of the green algal genus Ulva are significant contributors to blooms, which are typically dominated by only one of several co-occurring opportunistic species.

Based on the sequence data of the nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) 1, 5.8 S, and ITS 2, the molecular phylogeny was analyzed on Ulvaceae species collected from Qingdao coasts in summer of 2007, including 15 attached Ulva and Enteromorpha samples from 10 locations and 10 free-floating Enteromorpha samples from seven locations. The

Abstract Misapplication of Ulva epithets in GenBank has led to confusion in the scientific literature and community. To solve some of the problems, targeted DNA sequencing of plastid encoded rbcL gene amplicons or high-throughput sequencing was performed on all blade-forming Ulva type specimens from the northeast Pacific.

Australian Systematic Botany, 1988
Populations of Ulva growing in southern Australia were examined to ascertain the taxonomic value of the range of morphological and anatomical characteristics. Cell shape and chlorplast position, as seen in transverse section of the basal region of the thallus, proved to be non-viable characters which separate the species from each other.

[Preliminary study of 3 algae of the Ulvaceae family from the Mãe Luisa beach (RN)].
Revista de farmacia e bioquimica da Universidade de Sao Paulo, 1976Samples of marine algae from Brazilian coast were analysed for the proximate composition, calcium, phosphorus, iron and aminoacids. Ulva fasciata, Enteromorpha intestinalis and Enteromorpha flexuosa have been studied, specimens being collected at "Mãe Luisa" beach in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, between the months of September and November 1973 ...
