Development of bio-photo anodes using Ulvophyceae macroalgae

Journal of Materials Chemistry A, 2023
Three different macroalgae i.e. U. lactuca, U. linza, and U. compressa have been studied for biological photovoltaic energy system (BPVE), using edge plane pyrolytic graphite as the supporting working electrode....

Pseudoderbesia Eckloniae, sp. nov. (Bryopsidaceae, Ulvophyceae) from Western Australia

Cryptogamie, Algologie, 2020
Pseudoderbesia eckloniae Huisman & Verbruggen, sp. nov., is described for specimens collected from Cape Peron, Western Australia, growing epiphytically on the kelp Ecklonia radiata (C.Agardh) J.Agardh. The new species forms a velvety turf on the host and is distinguished from related species by a combination of molecular analyses (rbcL) and ...

Novel morphology in Enteromorpha (Ulvophyceae) forming green tides

American Journal of Botany, 2002
“Green tides” are vast accumulations of unattached green macroalgae associated with eutrophicated marine environments. They have major ecological and economic impacts globally, so an understanding of their origin and persistence is required in order to make management decisions.

Phylogenetic analysis of the Cladophora coelothrix complex, including the description of the new genus Leliaertia (Cladophorales, Ulvophyceae)

Phycologia, 2023
Molecular phylogenetic studies have revealed the polyphyletic nature of Cladophora as traditionally circumscribed, which is separated into four main clades: Cladophoraceae, Siphonocladus, Pithophoraceae and Pseudocladophoraceae.

Mitochondrial genomes of the green macroalga Ulva pertusa (Ulvophyceae, Chlorophyta): novel insights into the evolution of mitogenomes in the Ulvophyceae

Journal of Phycology, 2017
To further understand the trends in the evolution of mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes or mtDNAs) in the Ulvophyceae, the mitogenomes of two separate thalli of Ulva pertusa were sequenced. Two U. pertusa mitogenomes (Up1 and Up2) were 69,333 bp and 64,602 bp in length.

Ultrastructure and Taxonomy of Sporocladopsis novae-zelandiae (Ulvophyceae, Chlorophyta)

Botanica Marina, 2002
The ultrastructure of vegetative and reproductive cells in Sporocladopsis novae-zelandiae has been studied for the first time to determine the precise taxonomic position of this genus. Vegetative cells contained one parietal chloroplast with 5-8 ulvophycean-type pyrenoids and transverse cell walls with plasmodesmata.
