Double umbilical artery converging into a single umbilical artery: A case report
Rationale: The normal structure and Doppler parameters of the umbilical cord are closely related to many diseases, including fetal infection, chromosomal abnormalities, hypoxia, and growth and development restrictions. We report a case of bilateral umbilical artery confluence resulting in the formation of a single umbilical ...

In vitro vasoactive effects of dexmedetomidine on isolated human umbilical arteries [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: We aimed to investigate the vasoactive effects of dexmedetomidine on isolated human umbilical arteries and possible mechanisms involved. METHODS: Human umbilical artery strips were suspended in Krebs-Henseleit solution and dose-response curves

We observed a negative effect of brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) in a staggered manner based on the severity of the condition on respiratory and cardiac patterns, glycemia, acid–base balance, fetal growth, and uterine artery hemodynamics, thus requiring adaptations within the fetal–placental unit. Severely affected bitches had uterine

Lysyl oxidase crosslinking of type I collagen decreases neutrophil extravasation through an endothelium during the initial response to P. aeruginosa. This decrease in extravasation is likely due to the increase in VE‐cadherin expression between endothelial cells seeded on LOX‐crosslinked collagen hydrogels.

Platelet membrane‐coated layered double hydroxide nanoparticles were engineered to target inflamed endothelium at early‐stage atherosclerosis and enhance therapeutic efficacy. The biomimetic platform improves stability, immune escape, and inflamed vascular cell targeting, resulting in reduced oxidative stress and downregulated adhesion molecules.

Characterization of the extracellular matrix from human and dog umbilical cords
Abstract The extracellular matrix is important for maintaining tissue morphogenesis and homeostasis; it can also be used as a biomaterial for the production of biological scaffolds. Particularly, the umbilical cord has shown potential in the production of scaffolds for small‐diameter vessels.
