Human tissue kallikrein 14 induces the expression of IL‐6, IL‐8, and CXCL1 in skin fibroblasts through protease‐activated receptor 1 signaling

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 21, Page 5659-5675, November 2025.
Human tissue kallikrein 14 (KLK14), a skin protease, may mediate paracrine signaling in wound healing. KLK14 released by epithelial cells activates fibroblasts via PAR‐1 activation, inducing IL‐6, IL‐8, and CXCL1 expression. These cytokines in turn promote keratinocyte proliferation and migration, resulting in wound closure.

Blood group O expression in normal tissues and tumors

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 21, Page 5697-5722, November 2025.
The H antigen (O blood group), the precursor to A and B blood groups, is expressed on human erythrocytes. However, reliable reagents for H antigen detection are lacking. We generated two novel monoclonal antibodies using sea lamprey immunization, Tn4‐31L and OmcFL3‐02, that specifically detect the H antigen on glycan microarrays, glycoproteins, and ...

Enhancing macrophage phagocytosis of cancers by disrupting the SIRPα/CD47 signaling axis and targeting MUC1 antigen

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 22, Page 6100-6116, November 2025.
We investigated the role of the signal regulatory protein alpha (SIRPα)/CD47 axis in phagocytosis by disrupting the SIRPA gene in the THP‐1 cell line. The SIRPα KO THP‐1 cells retained their monocyte and macrophage characteristics similar to their wild‐type (WT) counterparts.
