Charge Regulation in Crowded Solutions of a Weak Polyelectrolyte: Steric Interactions

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Chemistry, Volume 66, Issue 3, May 2026.
Weak polyelectrolytes (WPE) solvated in biorelevant media and synthetic complex fluids that contain substantial concentrations of macromolecules, molecular assemblies, and nanoparticles are observed to exhibit deviations from the acid–base equilibrium observed in single‐component solutions.

Agroforestry and enhanced rock weathering: A dual strategy for sustainable cacao

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 843-860, May 2026.
Cacao production is both economically vital and environmentally intensive, presenting a major sustainability challenge as a crop largely cultivated by smallholder farmers in climate‐vulnerable regions. This review synthesises evidence that integrating agroforestry with enhanced rock weathering (EW) may significantly reduce emissions from cacao ...

Dam It, I’m Stranded: Evaluating Fish Stranding Downstream of Two Hydropeaking Dams in Northern Ontario

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, Volume 42, Issue 4, Page 796-811, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Globally, there has been an increase in the development and use of hydropower to produce energy. Hydropeaking is an operating regime that is used to meet real‐time energy demands; however, daily fluctuations in flows may result in fish becoming stranded.

The Paradox of Climate Justice

open access: yesWIREs Climate Change, Volume 17, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Climate justice may paradoxically undermine ambitious emissions‐reduction policies, causing greater long‐term injustice through insufficient climate action. Heterodox instruments often are not systemic, suffer rebound effects, and are less feasible than mainstream alternatives.
