Viscous Behaviour of Unbound Granular Materials in Direct Shear
ABSTRACT The viscous properties of a variety of poorly graded unbound granular materials were investigated by direct shear tests on 12 cm-cubic specimens. A number of natural sands having different particle shapes and sizes as well as uniform glass beads having different particle sizes were used.

Preparation, Characterization and Modeling of Unbound Granular Materials for Road Foundations
A wide range of granular soils were laboratory prepared as base and sub-base materials in flexible pavements technology. The samples were produced according to the requirements defined in the Spanish General Technical Specifications for Roads and Bridge ...

Calcium bentonite and sodium bentonite as stabilizers for roads unbound
Several technologies are currently available to stabilize the unbound layers of road pavements. The use of these solutions, often manufactured by means of chemical processes, is steadily increasing worldwide.

Neural network-based model for prediction of permanent deformation of unbound granular materials
Several available mechanistic-empirical pavement design methods fail to include predictive model for permanent deformation (PD) of unbound granular materials (UGMs), which make these methods more conservative.

Resilient modulus for unbound granular materials and subgrade soils in Egypt
Mechanistic Empirical (ME) pavement design methods started to gain attention especially the last couple of years in Egypt and the Middle East. One of the challenges facing the spread of these methods in Egypt is lack of advanced properties of local soil ...
