On the role of deduction in reasoning from uncertain premises [PDF]
The probabilistic approach to reasoning hypothesizes that most reasoning, both in everyday life and in science, takes place in contexts of uncertainty.

The uncertain status of Bayesian accounts of reasoning [PDF]
Bayesian accounts are currently popular in the field of inductive reasoning. This commentary briefly reviews the limitations of one such account, the Rational Model (Anderson 1991b), in explaining how inferences are made about objects whose category ...

An Agent Architecture to fulfill Real-Time Requirements [PDF]
In this paper we present AMSIA, an agent architecture that combines the possibility of using di erent reasoning methods with a mechanism to control the resources needed by the agent to ful ll its high level objectives.

Objective Orofacial manifestations are significantly impactful in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), yet remain understudied, with no dedicated clinical guidelines to inform their management. Methods An international online survey comprising 38 questions addressing orofacial manifestations of SSc, including patients’ confidence in their treating ...

This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Feasible uncertain reasoning for multi agent ontology mapping [PDF]
One of the main disadvantages of using Dempster-Shafer theory for uncertain reasoning is the computational complexity of the belief combination. Large number of variables can easily make the applicability unfeasible due to the exponential growth of the ...

Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.
