Fixed‐time prescribed performance control method for nonlinear systems with unknown time‐varying parameters

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications
In this study, it is considered that the question of adaptive tracking control of nonlinear systems containing unknown time‐varying parameters. To optimize the control effect, a fixed‐time control strategy is adopted, in which the upper bound of the ...

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.

Dementia Incidence in Individuals With Parkinson's Disease in the Framingham Heart Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Limited information exists on incident dementia in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) in US community‐based samples. We examined cognitive statuses and PD diagnoses of 183 individuals in the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) to establish incident dementia, mortality rates, associations with sex, age at PD onset, and education level.

Advancing Age Modulates Associations Between Cognitive Impairment and Brain Volumes in Early MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment is common in multiple sclerosis (MS), but manifestations following the first demyelinating event are relatively unexplored. We investigated cross‐sectional associations between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)–derived brain volumes and the presence of cognitive impairment outcomes five years after the first ...

Adaptive multi‐level differential coupling control strategy for dual‐motor servo synchronous system based on global backstepping super‐twisting control

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications
A new dual‐motor servo steering system with improved reliability and safety is proposed. But, despite the advantages of the proposed servo system, it is strongly coupled, non‐linear and multivariable, where the biggest challenge lies in its tracking and ...

Understanding Further the Phenotypic Spectrum of Central Nervous System Inflammatory Demyelinating Disorders Using Unsupervised Clustering

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory demyelinating syndromes, including multiple sclerosis (MS), aquaporin‐4 antibody–positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4 + NMOSD), and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody–associated disease (MOGAD), occasionally overlap.

Comparing the Effect of Semi‐Immersive Virtual Reality, Computerized Cognitive Training, and Traditional Rehabilitation on Cognitive Function in Multiple Sclerosis: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cognitive impairment is a common non‐motor symptom in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), negatively affecting autonomy and Quality of Life (QoL). Innovative rehabilitation strategies, such as semi‐immersive virtual reality (VR) and computerized cognitive training (CCT), may offer advantages over traditional cognitive rehabilitation (TCR ...

Second-Order Terminal Sliding Mode Control for Trajectory Tracking of a Differential Drive Robot

open access: yesMathematics
This paper proposes a second-order terminal sliding mode (2TSM) approach to the trajectory tracking of the differential drive mobile robot (DDMR). Within this cascaded control scheme, the 2TSM dynamic controller, at the innermost loop, tracks the robot’s

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Robust Optimization in Simulation: Taguchi and Response Surface Methodology [PDF]

open access: yes
Optimization of simulated systems is tackled by many methods, but most methods assume known environments. This article, however, develops a 'robust' methodology for uncertain environments.
