Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

Using peripheral blood for determining B‐cell or T‐cell clonality is more reliable when we use cell‐free RNA (cfRNA) because cells release blood significantly more RNA than DNA. Next‐generation sequencing (NGS) of cfRNA allows us to evaluate fragment cfRNA and evaluate clonality reliably without the need for prior determination of the specific dominant

Fighting Uncertainty with Uncertainty: A Baby Step [PDF]
We can overcome uncertainty with uncertainty. Using randomness in our choices and in what we control, and hence in the decision making process, could potentially offset the uncertainty inherent in the environment and yield better outcomes. The example we develop in greater detail is the news-vendor inventory management problem with demand uncertainty ...

Comparative assessment of crystallographic and cryo‐EM models in the Protein Data Bank
Raw data obtained by X‐ray crystallography or cryo‐EM result in experimental maps, ultimately fitted by atomic models. Although the physical principles are different, the final results can be viewed, compared, and evaluated in the same way. With cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) on track to surpass X‐ray crystallography as the preferred method ...

Agreeing to disagree: uncertainty management in assessing climate change, impacts and responses by the IPCC [PDF]
Dealing consistently with risk and uncertainty across the IPCC reports is a difficult challenge. Huge practical difficulties arise from the Panel’s scale and interdisciplinary context, the complexity of the climate change issue and its political context.

ABSTRACT Advancing artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed learning and work, yet higher education and professional development programs have not systematically equipped learners for AI‐prevalent environments. This lack of preparation creates uncertainty regarding control, responsibility, trust, and accountability.

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

The relationship between inflation, output growth, and their uncertainties: Nonlinear Multivariate GARCH-M evidence [PDF]
In this paper, we propose a nonlinear multivariate GARCH-M model. We have illustrated the actual modelling by applying the models to inflation and output growth variables and found that the effects of real and nominal uncertainties are regime-dependent ...

Addressing uncertainties in the ERICA Integrated Approach
Like any complex environmental problem, ecological risk assessment of the impacts of ionising radiation is confounded by uncertainty. At all stages, from problem formulation through to risk characterisation, the assessment is dependent on models ...
