Developing an Integrated Framework to Reduce Uncertainty in Process Risk Assessment Based on Dempster-Shafer Evidence Theory and Bayesian Network: A Case Study in Oil Reservoirs Using Multiple Sources of Evidence [PDF]
Introduction: Fire risk assessment in oil storage tanks faces challenges due to incomplete, conflicting, and uncertain data, particularly when empirical evidence is limited.

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Precision without Precisions: Handling uncertainty with a single predictive model
The predictive processing theory of cognition and neural encoding dictates that hierarchical regions in the neocortex learn and encode predictive hypotheses of current and future stimuli. To better handle uncertainty these regions must also learn, infer,

A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Effect of previous handling experiences on responses of dairy calves to routine husbandry procedures [PDF]
The nature of human–animal interactions is an important factor contributing to animal welfare and productivity. Reducing stress during routine husbandry procedures is likely to improve animal welfare.

Handling Uncertainty in Multi-Agent Commitments
Commitments play a central role in multi-agent coordination. However, they are inherently uncertain and it is important to take these uncertainties into account during planning and scheduling.

Symmetry‐Guided Multifunctional Acoustic System Based on Mechanically Actuated Sonic Crystals
This study presents the design, simulation, and experimental validation of amultifunctional acoustic metamaterial based on rotationally engineered sonic crystals.By tuning cylinder orientations, controllable band gaps and six distinct functionalities—including switching, topological insulation, beam splitting, and logic operations—areachieved ...
