Modeling Portfolio Selection Under Intuitionistic Fuzzy Environments

open access: yesMathematics
Portfolio optimization is a multifaceted process aimed at achieving a balance between investors’ risk tolerance and expected returns. However, the inherent uncertainty and unpredictability of financial markets significantly hinder the attainment of this ...

Evolutionary dynamics of the chloroplast genome in Daphne (Thymelaeaceae): comparative analysis with related genera and insights into phylogenetics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Comparative analysis of chloroplast genomes from 14 genera of Thymelaeaceae revealed variation in gene content, ranging from 128 to 142 genes, primarily influenced by IR expansion/contraction events and pseudogenization of ndhF, ndhI, and ndhG. Two large inversions were detected within the large single‐copy region, including a synapomorphic inversion ...

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Neutrosophic Type-III Sets for Multi-Layered Uncertainty Modeling in Quality Evaluation of University Ideological and Political Education [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
This paper presents a new way to better understand and measure complicated situations where things aren't just true or false, but somewhere in between. It focuses on something called Type-3 Neutrosophic Sets, a method that helps us deal with uncertainty,

MODELING OF ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY [PDF]

open access: yesFUZZY ECONOMIC REVIEW, 2004
Representation and modeling of economic uncertainty is addressed by different modeling methods, namely stochastic variables and probabilities (including Monte Carlo simulation), interval analysis, and fuzzy numbers, in particular triple and quadruple esti-mates.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

A Neutrosophic Logic and Probability-Based Artificial Intelligence Model for Smart Elderly Care Services in Urban Ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
Smart elderly care services in urban communities often face challenges involving uncertainty, incomplete data, and conflicting information. Traditional logic and probability frameworks typically fail to manage these complexities adequately.

Early Quantitative Assessment of Non-Functional Requirements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Non-functional requirements (NFRs) of software systems are a well known source of uncertainty in effort estimation. Yet, quantitatively approaching NFR early in a project is hard.
