Influence of Lime on the Unconfined Compressive Strength of Cnoal Gangue
2021Coal gangue is one of the largest industrial residues generated during the coal mining process. The surge in demand for coal has led to further increase in coal gangue production, and its safe disposal is an arduous effort in terms of costs involved and the associated environmental impacts.

Time effects on the unconfined compressive strength and sensitivity of a clay
Engineering Geology, 1991Unconfined compression tests have been carried out on a highly plastic clay using three different strain rates: fast, medium and slow. Results of the t strength with increased strain rate for both the undisturbed and remoulded soil, although the increase was more pronounced in the undisturbed cases tha leading to an increase in sensitivity.

Meta-analysis of the unconfined compressive strength of soils with Xanthan
2023The objective of the present study is to determine the effect of the application of Xanthan gum in different soils through the evaluation of the unconfined compressive strength.

Effect of Microbes on the Unconfined Compressive Strength of Dredged Sediments
2021In this research, a microbe Bacillus sphaericus has been used to modify the soil by increasing the unconfined compressive strength of dredged sediments from a river. The microbe has been added at an optical density of 1 (~107 colony formation units per ml). A mixture of urea and calcium chloride at distinct molarities has been used to treat the samples

Predicting the Tensile and Unconfined Compressive Strength of MICP-Treated Sands
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental EngineeringMicrobially Induced Carbonate Precipitation MICP has been studied over the last 20 years as a promising bio-mediated alternative to enhance soil mechanical performance. Multiple studies have investigated different MICP treatment techniques and their application to various coarse-grained soils.

Edge load strength test for indirect estimation of unconfined compressive strength
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, 2013Abstract In this paper a new test called “Edge Load Strength” (ELS) for indirect estimation of unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of rock samples is introduced. The test apparatus is almost the same as point load test apparatus except that a flat seating replaces the lower conical platen of the point load apparatus.

Uncertainty Analysis in Unconfined Rock Compressive Strength Prediction
SPE Deep Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2010Abstract Lots of sources can be used to derive unconfined rock compressive strength (UCS) along the wellbore as a key input of failure criteria for wellbore stability analysis. Laboratory tests are the most accurate methods to obtain rock strength which mainly are destructive and result in a set of discrete data.

Effect of Wetting on Unconfined Compressive Strength of Cemented Sands
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2010A weakly cemented sand and gravel has been partly or entirely used in the construction of earth structures such as dams and retaining walls. Such cemented soils that are usually highly permeable can undergo repetitive wetting and drying during curing due to temporary rainfall or a change in the groundwater table.
