Comparing Visual Acuity, Low Contrast Acuity and Contrast Sensitivity After Trifocal Toric and Extended Depth of Focus Toric Intraocular Lens Implantation

open access: yesClinical Ophthalmology, 2020
Purpose The aim of this study was to compare visual acuity at various distances (far, intermediate and near), low contrast acuity and contrast sensitivity after trifocal toric and extended depth of focus (EDOF) toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation.

Charge‐Polarized Ni─S4 Single‐Atom Sites Drive Selective Photoreforming of Poly(lactic acid) to Lactate and Hydrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomically dispersed Ni–S4 sites on CdS nanorods induce interfacial charge polarization, directing photogenerated electrons to H2 evolution and holes to selective ester‐bond cleavage of poly(lactic acid). Without sacrificial reagents, this charge‐coupled system produces lactate while suppressing overoxidation, achieving an H2 evolution rate of 41.74 ...

Gene Correction Enhances Dopaminergic Cell Therapy in a Nonhuman Primate Model of Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LRRK2‐mutant induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were derived from a patient with Parkinson's disease (PD). Using CRISPR/Cas9–mediated gene editing, the pathogenic LRRK2 mutations were precisely corrected, and isogenic dopaminergic neural progenitor cells (DA‐NPCs) were subsequently generated.

Effect of residual sphere on uncorrected visual acuity and satisfaction in patients with monofocal and multifocal intraocular lenses

open access: yesJournal of cataract and refractive surgery
Residual sphere degrades distance VA of pseudophakic patients. Residual myopia improves near vision of eyes with monofocal IOLs but does not enhance near vision performance in multifocal IOL patients.

Targeting the KCNC3‐Dependent Anterior Insular‐Lateral Orbitofrontal Cortex Glutamatergic Circuit Attenuates Post‐Traumatic Anxiety

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Frontal lobe traumatic brain injury is associated with hyperactivity of an insular–orbitofrontal circuit in both patients and mice. By combination of integrating functional imaging, cell‐type–specific circuit manipulation, single‐cell transcriptomics, and whole‐cell recordings, this work identifies the downregulation of the potassium channel KCNC3 in ...
