Cross-language phoneme recognition for under-resourced languages
2012 IEEE 27th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, 2012In the present research, we explore several methods for transforming phoneme models from a language with acoustic models that have been trained (source language) to another, untrained language (target language). One approach uses acoustic distance-measures to automatically define the mapping from source to target phonemes.

Automatic speech recognition for an under-resourced language - amharic
Interspeech 2007, 2007In this paper we present the development of an Automatic Speech Recognition System (ASRS) for Amharic using limited available resources and the freely available speech toolkit (HTK). There are phonological, dialectal, orthographic and morphological features of Amharic that challenge the development of ASRSs.

Automating the Creation of Speech Recognition Systems for Under-resourced Languages
2015 Fourteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI), 2015© 2015 IEEE.More than 7100 languages are spoken in the world and the significant part of these languages suffers frothe absence of speech services, therefore people cannot use them on their native languages and have to learn and use other languages in order to communicate with modern information technologies.

Automatic Extraction and Application of Language Descriptions for Under-Resourced Languages
2022Languages of our world are amazingly diverse, consisting of varied and complex systems of word, phrase, sentence construction, and vocabulary, to name a few. Understanding these systems is critical not only for language communication, but they also drive the design and development of language technologies.

Documenting Under-resourced Languages of Sarawak, Borneo
Journal of Asian Linguistic AnthropologyWithin the last five decades, documentary linguistics has progressed as a field in its own right, and less as ancillary to descriptive linguistics, or as exclusively in reference to endangered languages (Himmelmann 1998; Austin 2015). This paper discusses the documentation of under-resourced languages.
