Methods for Source Number Estimation in Underdetermined Blind Sources Separation
2012Estimate the number of source signals is a necessary prerequisite for underdetermined blind sources separation (UBSS). The accuracy of sources number estimation has influence to the correctness of the sources separation. For this, a new algorithm—Hough-Windowed is proposed based on the assumption that the source signals are sparse. First, the algorithm

An online adaptive algorithm for underdetermined blind source separation
2014 12th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP), 2014Underdetermined blind source separation (UBSS) deals with the problem of estimating n source signals from m measurements (n > m), with an unknown mixing process. Most researches pay attention to the sparsity of speech to recover source signals, such as the DUET (degenerate unmixing estimation technique) algorithm, which can separate any number of ...

This letter proposes a clustering-based approach for solving the underdetermined (i.e., fewer mixtures than sources) postnonlinear blind source separation (PNL BSS) problem when the sources are sparse. Although various algorithms exist for the underdetermined BSS problem for sparse sources, as well as for the PNL BSS problem with as many mixtures as ...

Underdetermined Blind Source Separation for Hard Clipped Stereophonic Mixtures
2019 International Conference on Data Mining Workshops (ICDMW), 2019Underdetermined source separation becomes more challenging when the observed mixtures are distorted. A novel framework for source separation from mixtures affected by clipping distortion is presented. Our method exploits knowledge about the geometry of clipped mixtures when the sources are disjoint in time.

Underdetermined blind source separation by a novel time–frequency method
AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications, 2017Abstract This paper proposes a novel underdetermined blind source separation (UBSS) method based on short-time Fourier transform (STFT) to separate non-stationary sources. This method relaxes the premise in the subspace algorithm presented by Aissa-El-Bey et al.

PDOA based underdetermined blind source separation using two microphones
2013 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME), 2013This paper builds on the idea of frequency bin-wise separation of mixed speech signals by Gaussian Mixture Model fitting using the Expectation-Maximization algorithm on Phase-Difference-of-Arrival values between two microphones. We find that using a combination of pre-processing steps and error finding post processing, separation performance exceeding ...

Power-line Communication Testbed through Underdetermined Blind Source Separation
2002Powerline communication has become interesting as a new choice of communication media by using OFDM in the Europe Internet application and using TDMA in power meters’ reading in Japan mimicking the function of phone-line DSL. However, this raw copper media without hefty infrastructure investment such as the telephone twisted pair DSL has many ...
