Nanowires Reinforce Oriented Macroporous Aerogels for Rapid Uranium Removal from Acidic Radioactive Wastewater

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “reinforced concrete” structural aerogel with directional microchannels is engineered for rapid uranium capture. The interconnected architecture enables ultrafast water permeation, and the nanowire reinforcement yields a 70‐fold increase in mechanical strength.

Research on in situ fidelity sampling, dissociation mechanisms, and green extraction technologies for deep-sea hydrothermal vent polymetallic sulfides

open access: yes工程科学学报
Deep-sea hydrothermal vent polymetallic sulfide deposits exhibit significant enrichment in strategic metallic elements, including copper, zinc, gold, and silver, and critical rare-earth elements, such as cobalt, selenium, tellurium, and indium, which ...

Behavior of noncircular tunnels excavated in stratified rock masses – Case of underground coal mines

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2019
The amount of tunnels excavated along stratified/sedimentary rock masses in Quangninh coal mine area, Vietnam, is gradually increasing. Rock mass in Quangninh is characterized by beddings between rock layers.

Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

Mechanical behavior and damage evolution of sandstone under different fatigue loading modes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology
To investigate the complex disturbance effects of sandstone in goaf roofs during deep coal mining, mechanical tests and acoustic emission (AE) monitoring were carried out for sandstone specimens subjected to multiple fatigue loading conditions.

A Global Methane Observation System to Reduce Uncertainty for Anthropogenic and Natural Sources and Sinks for Detecting and Attributing Climate Feedbacks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conceptual illustration of a Global Ecosystem Methane Observing System (GEM‐OS) integrating satellites, aircraft, atmospheric networks, and ecosystem measurements to quantify methane emissions from anthropogenic and natural sources. The multi‐scale observing framework improves source attribution, reduces uncertainty in regional methane budgets, and ...

Hierarchical Physical‐Cyber Encryption via Metasurface‐Encoded Holographic Keys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Physical‐layer encryption based on metasurfaces has emerged as a promising alternative to conventional algorithmic cryptography by embedding security into physical processes. However, most existing metasurface‐based encryption schemes operate within single‐stage or static frameworks, where correct physical illumination directly reveals the ...
