Denoising framework for X‐ray absorption spectroscopy data

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 658-682, May 2026.
We introduce a high‐performance Python‐based XAS denoising package called XASDenoise, which implements our newly developed stationarity warping method and advanced denoising techniques based on Gaussian process regression and a convolutional autoencoder.X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is a powerful tool for probing the structural and electronic ...

Fibre phantom generation using FibreSimulator: an open‐source Python tool

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 870-883, May 2026.
FibreSimulator is an open‐source tool for generating realistic 3D phantoms of unidirectional fibre‐reinforced polymers, enabling customizable fibre structures and simulating computed tomography scanning for algorithm development and validation.Fibre‐reinforced polymer composites are utilized across many industries for their stiffness and strength ...

Prediction of Fault and Fracture Density From Seismic Attributes and Machine Learning Models Calibrated With Borehole Image Logs

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 38, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
This study integrates post‐stack seismic attributes with a CNN‐based workflow to characterize sub‐seismic deformation in shale gas reservoirs. A near‐linear correlation is established between seismic characterization methods and borehole deformation counts.

Understanding Muroidea (Rodentia) Species Richness: The Complementary Roles of Adaptive and Non‐Adaptive Diversification

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate environmental drivers of species richness in the Muroidea superfamily and to determine the relative contributions of adaptive and non‐adaptive diversification using organismal or emergent properties, trait variation. Location Global. Time Period 32 million years ago to the present.
