Epiphyll Dynamics of a Tropical Understory
Oikos, 1981Cover, abundance, distribution, and seasonal variation of epiphylls on coffee, Coffea arabica, grown with different shade densities were determined. Average percent epiphyll cover was similar for all sites, ranging from 25 to 31%. Number of leaves with epiphylls was lowest in the shadeless site.

Mangrove understory: an expensive luxury?
Journal of Tropical Ecology, 1986Recently, Janzen (1985) observed that mangrove forests lack a plant understory and proposed three hypotheses to explain the absence of reproducing unders ory herbs, vines (lianas), and shrubs in mangroves. Although the general observation of an absence of these plants in mangrove understory is true and had already been made by Chapman (1975, p.

[Effects of understory environmental factors on understory planting of medicinal plants].
Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medicaUnderstory planting of medicinal plants is a new planting mode that connects Chinese herbal medicine(CHM) with forest resources. The complex and variable understory environmental factors will inevitably affect the yield and quality of understory CHM.This research summarized the research progress on understory planting of medicinal plants based on forest

Mesquite effects on understory plants
2019The goal of the analysis was to determine the response—in terms of density and distribution—of understory plants to mesquite. Multiple types of response data were collected for many species along the same sampling transects within a spatial hierarchy (transects within exclosures within pastures).
