Instrumentation in Underwater Environment [PDF]
For underwater observation and exploration, the accurate measurement of few basic parameters is very important. During measurement process underwater noise plays an adverse effect, so noise measurement is essential to refine the result of other parameters. Sound, distance, and fish population measurements are common activities in oceanography.

Detecting Square Markers in Underwater Environments [PDF]
Augmented reality can be deployed in various application domains, such as enhancing human vision, manufacturing, medicine, military, entertainment, and archeology. One of the least explored areas is the underwater environment. The main benefit of augmented reality in these environments is that it can help divers navigate to points of interest or ...

Underwater Mixed Environments [PDF]
In this chapter we give a systematic overview over Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in underwater settings. Based on a novel classification scheme we illustrate the broad range of available and future implementation options. Whilst we find a variety of previous work on creating and using virtual underwater worlds, quite few examples of ...

Exploring Underwater Environments with Curiosity [PDF]
This paper presents a novel approach to modeling curiosity in a mobile robot, which is useful for monitoring and adaptive data collection tasks. We use ROST, a real time topic modeling framework to build a semantic perception model of the environment, using which, we plan a path through the locations in the world with high semantic information content.

Underwater light environment in Arctic fjords
Abstract. Most inhabitants of the Arctic live near the coastline, which includes fjord systems where socio-ecological coupling with coastal communities is dominant. It is therefore critically important that the key aspects of Arctic fjords be measured as well as possible.

Battery-free wireless imaging of underwater environments
AbstractImaging underwater environments is of great importance to marine sciences, sustainability, climatology, defense, robotics, geology, space exploration, and food security. Despite advances in underwater imaging, most of the ocean and marine organisms remain unobserved and undiscovered.

Krill: An exploration in underwater sensor networks [PDF]
While sensor networks have now become very popular on land, the underwater environment still poses some difficult problems. Communication is one of the difficult challenges under water. There are two options: optical and acoustic.
