Submerged mechanism for underwater monitoring
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020A submerged monitoring system gives insights of areas that are difficult to access. Memory sensitive material remembers the shape it is trained for, when deformed it can regain its original shape after being heated. This exceptional property is used to innovatively control maneuvering mechanism for propulsion and steering of the device.

Hybrid underwater environmental monitoring
Proceedings of the 12th ACM Conference on Embedded Network Sensor Systems, 2014Many underwater monitoring tasks, such as submarine life studies and pipeline inspections, are usually performed manually. Automated underwater monitoring has the potential to increase safety, improve timeliness, and decrease costs. We propose a hybrid solution of stationary sensor buoys and swarms of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) and report on ...

Novel Electrodes for Underwater ECG Monitoring
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2014We have developed hydrophobic electrodes that provide all morphological waveforms without distortion of an ECG signal for both dry and water-immersed conditions. Our electrode is comprised of a mixture of carbon black powder (CB) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). For feasibility testing of the CB/PDMS electrodes, various tests were performed. One of the

Acoustics in underwater environmental monitoring
Proceedings of OCEANS'94, 2002Monitoring of the undersea environment is an important task in the process of controlling and reducing water pollution. Acoustics can be used to detect, locate and classify polluting matter and consequences of pollution like algae blooming and other biological effects.

Sensor platforms for multimodal underwater monitoring
2012 International Green Computing Conference (IGCC), 2012Surprisingly little is known about underwater marine environments and ecosystems owing to several factors. One important factor has been the general inability to observe and monitor these massive subsurface ocean spaces. Despite significant advances in sensor, communication and computing technology, underwater sensor platforms are generally inferior to
