Enhanced GNSS-acoustic positioning method implementing with constraints on underwater sound speed structure

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space
It is important to appropriately model underwater sound speed structures to detect seafloor displacements accurately using GNSS-acoustic seafloor geodetic observations.

DeepSTARia: enabling autonomous, targeted observations of ocean life in the deep sea

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The ocean remains one of the least explored places on our planet, containing myriad life that are either unknown to science or poorly understood. Given the technological challenges and limited resources available for exploring this vast space, more ...

Low-to-Mid-Frequency Monopole Source Levels of Underwater Noise from Small Recreational Vessels in the St. Lawrence Estuary Beluga Critical Habitat

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Anthropogenic noise from navigation is a major contributor to the disturbance of the acoustic soundscape in underwater environments containing noise-sensitive life forms.

Underwater observations of fish behavior in traps [PDF]

open access: yesHelgoländer Wissenschaftliche Meeresuntersuchungen, 1973
1. Saturation diving from the undersea laboratories Tektite II, Hydro-Lab and Edalhab permitted scientists to conduct extended in situ observations of fish within the influence of traps. The 14, 5 and 4 day studies were conducted in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bahama Islands and Florida during April, 1970, December, 1971, and January, 1972. 2.

Lipid Nanoparticles for the Delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 Machinery to Enable Site‐Specific Integration of CFTR and Mutation‐Agnostic Disease Rescue

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are optimized to co‐deliver Cas9‐encoding messenger RNA (mRNA), a single guide RNA (sgRNA) targeting the endogenous cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, and homologous linear double‐stranded donor DNA (ldsDNA) templates encoding CFTR.

OBSERVATION OF SEDIMENTMOTION BY UNDERWATER-TELEVISION

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1970
For observation and interpretation of sedimentological movements an Underwater Television set-up is employed, which is discribed in the following paper. The so long achieved results and experiences are exemplified.

From Waste to Value: Conversion of Calcium Sulfate to Vaterite via Carbon Capture and Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new concept for carbon management that relies on the carbonation of industrial gypsum waste and yields phase‐pure vaterite at ambient conditions without any additives. The obtained vaterite is further shown to be a reactive material that develops compressive strength in aqueous suspensions like conventional cements.

Variability and Interleaving of Upper-Ocean Water Masses Surrounding the North Atlantic Salinity Maximum [PDF]

open access: yesOceanography, 2015
The North Atlantic subtropical salinity maximum harbors the saltiest surface waters of the open world ocean. Subduction of these waters gives rise to Subtropical Underwater, spreading the high-salinity signature over the entire basin.

Selection Strategies for Flexible Pressure Sensor Electrode Materials Toward Ultrafast Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals, for the first time, how the electrode–organic interface governs the temporal performance of flexible pressure sensors. By pairing high‐conductivity CVD PEDOT with commonly used metal electrodes, the authors demonstrate that interfacial energy alignment dictates microsecond‐scale response, providing a straightforward design strategy ...
