Weak-shock solution for underwater explosive shock waves
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1977The initial pressure wave measured at modest distances from an underwater explosion is often modeled as a spherical shock wave with an exponential decay. A closed-form analytical ’’weak-shock’’ solution for the subsequent propagation of such a wave has been obtained.

Dynamic response of closed cell PVC foams subjected to underwater shock loading
International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2019A dynamic loading facility is developed to investigate the underwater shock response of poly vinyl chloride foams of varying densities. The shock loading facility consists of a water filled hollow cylindrical structure, with one end fully closed and the ...

Transient response of stiffened composite submersible hull to underwater shock and bubble
Composite structures, 2019This paper deals with the transient response of a glass-epoxy composite submersible hull subjected to underwater explosive shock and bubble. The physical process of the underwater explosive shock and the subsequent bubble evolution in the fluid is ...

Parameter regulation of underwater shock waves based on exploding-wire-ignited energetic materials
Journal of Applied Physics, 2019This paper proposed and verified a method for adjusting parameters of underwater shock waves. In the experiments, a metal wire with an energetic material coat was exploded by applying a pulsed current on it.

Shock wave and bubble pulsation characteristics in a field generated by single underwater detonation
The Physics of Fluids, 2022To promote the development and application of underwater detonation propulsion technology, we built a single underwater detonation experimental system and established the corresponding axisymmetric five-equation model to study the characteristics of the ...

Shock wave generation by underwater discharge
The 31st IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, 2004. ICOPS 2004. IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts., 2004Summary form only given. A model of shock wave generation in water by underwater electrical discharge initiated by a conducting wire is presented. We compare the model results with the velocities of the shock wave and the exploding wire expansion as monitored by a streak camera.

Underwater-Shock Consolidation of TiAl Powder
1995Explosive consolidation of PREPed TiAl alloy powder was performed by utilizing underwater shock waves with pressures of about 10 GPa. The as-consolidated specimen has high bonding strength and shows substantial interparticle bonding by melting of the powder surface. Relative density of the compact was 95% or more of the theoretical density.
