Noise levels and sources in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary and the St. Lawrence River Estuary [PDF]
Although ambient (background) noise in the ocean is a topic that has been widely studied since pre-World War II, the effects of noise on marine organisms has only been a focus of concern for the last 25 years.

A Sandwich Coating Containing Micro-perforated Panel for Underwater Sound Absorption
Abstract This paper focuses on the underwater application of Micro-perforated panel (MPP) for broadband sound absorption. In this paper, MPP-rubber coating (MPPRC), a novel sandwich anechoic coating embedded with MPP in high-viscosity condition, is proposed.

Where Tech Meets the SDGs: A Supply‐Chain Process Map for Sustainability Management
ABSTRACT This study investigates how advanced technologies support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within supply chain management (SCM) through a structured analysis of 4448 sustainable practices. By integrating perspectives from sustainability‐oriented innovation (SOI) and contingent dynamic capabilities, the research conceptualizes technology ...

Volume scattering function measured in the oceans and lakes (2009–2024)
Abstract Volume scattering function (VSF) is a fundamental inherent optical property but has been scarcely measured in natural environments. To address this observational gap, we compiled a dataset of non‐water, particle VSFs (βp) measured in a variety of waters, covering inland, coastal, and open oceans. A total of 1013 βp with an overall ≤ 1° angular

Laboratory Characterization of Cryogenic Frost‐Point Hygrometers Using an Upper Air Simulator
Cryogenic frost‐point hygrometers (CFHs) are widely used to accurately measure water vapor pressure in the upper atmosphere. The performance of CFHs has been thoroughly evaluated using an Upper Air Simulator (UAS), a controlled laboratory system designed to generate and regulate frost‐point levels across a range of temperatures.

Effect of Insect Damage on Seed Germination of Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia)
As shown in the figure, the white‐circled black locust seeds absorbed water and swelled, whereas the red‐circled seeds remained unswollen. This observed cryptic seed heteromorphism in germination is likely attributable not only to the development of an impermeable seed coat during maturation but also to physical damage caused by insects. ABSTRACT Black

Mechanisms and design of composite sandwich structures for underwater sound absorption
Abstract This research focuses on enhancing the acoustic properties of underwater composite sandwich structures. Initially, a comparison is made between the acoustic performance of composite sandwich structures with traditional symmetric and asymmetric face sheets.
