Underwater sound absorption characteristics of metamaterials with steel plate backing

Abstract Generally, the better sound absorption characteristics can be achieved in the low frequency band by embedding resonance units into the conventional anechoic coating. However, in this way, the frequency range of effective sound absorption is relatively narrow, which limits the application of anechoic coating in engineering.

Underwater sound absorption of a meta-absorption layer with double negativity

Abstract An underwater meta-absorption layer (MAPL) is presented which consists of multiple steel scatters and a rubber matrix. Double negativity of the MAPL can be found within multiple frequency ranges with the effective medium method due to local resonance and wave scattering.
