IoT Underwater Wireless Sensor Network Monitoring

2021
Water is a crucial resource for all life on earth, and it is fast becoming one of the limited natural resources to humankind, especially clean drinking water and water for agricultural uses. Sensor technologies and wireless communications (both terrestrial and underwater) have been seriously investigated by researchers to find ways to integrate these ...

Wireless sensor networks for underwater survelliance systems

Ad Hoc Networks, 2006
Abstract In this paper, a new wireless sensor network architecture is introduced for underwater surveillance systems where sensors lie in surface buoys when nodes are first deployed. After deployment, sensors are lowered to various depths selected by our scheme such that the maximum coverage of the three dimensional sensor space is maintained.

Smart City in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks

2021
The earth is covered 71% by water and the human utilizes the remaining 29% for their shelter and living. The idea of living under the water is possible only in fiction movies for our ancestors. But in this century, the idea of living in an underwater city has become a reality with the development of the existing technology.

Routing protocols for underwater wireless sensor networks

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2015
Recently, underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) have emerged as a promising networking technique for various underwater applications. An energy efficient routing protocol plays a vital role in data transmission and practical applications. However, due to the specific characteristics of UWSNs, such as dynamic structure, narrow bandwidth, rapid ...

Data Collection in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks

Proceedings of the 20th ACM International Conference on Modelling, Analysis and Simulation of Wireless and Mobile Systems, 2017
Underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) emerge as an enabling technology for the monitoring of vast areas of aquatic environments. This technology will pave the way for future large-scale applications of ocean monitoring, which will help to change the worryingly current reality where oceans are completely unknown.

RF communications in underwater wireless sensor networks

2010 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology, 2010
We investigate the propagation of radio waves underwater and between water and air to facilitate setting up hybrid wireless sensor networks with both surface and subsurface nodes. Our investigation includes signal attenuation, antenna radiation patterns, multipath due to reflections from the surface and substrate, noise, and reflection losses ...
