Severe underweight and cerebral microbleeds
Journal of Neurology, 2012Severely low and/or high body mass index (BMI) has been associated with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) risk in several large cohorts. The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between BMI and the presence of cerebral microbleeds. The presence and number of microbleeds were assessed on three-dimensional T2-weighted gradient-recalled-echo ...

It was customary until recent years for those concerned with problems of human nutrition to assume that vitamin B was widely distributed in natural foodstuffs and that any reasonably well constructed diet was likely to contain enough of that vitamin. These assumptions were based on the older assays of food for what is now termed the vitamin B complex ...

A brief review of the causes of underweight in adolescence is presented to help the practitioner determine the cause of underweight in his patient. Poor nutrition is determined by several key observations: (1) history; (2) physical examination; (3) amthropometric measurements—height, weight, triceps skin fold thickness (TSF), mid-arm circumference (MAC)

2020The great majority of attention on growth faltering concentrates on the first "1,000 days" with a much lesser focus on toddlers and young preschoolers. The rationale for this is understandable since the first 1,000 days cover the period of most rapid growth and changes in body composition, the period of breastfeeding, and the complex transition from ...

Searching for Two Objects by Underweight Feedback
SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics, 1988Summary: A group testing problem with two irregular coins and with a test device that detects only an underweight coin is considered. The maximum number of tests required to identify two irregulars, one overweight and one underweight, is known to have a lower bound of 2 log n. We present a procedure that gives an upper bound of 2 log n\(+O(\log n \sqrt{

Chlorpromazine for Treatment of Underweight
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1969ABSTRACT To the Editor:— The response to the question regarding management of the underweight woman which appeared in The Journal (209:2061, 1969) suggested insulin injections and large doses of chlorpromazine but only for inpatients. For outpatients, the only suggestion was reassurance that underweight was healthy and cosmetically advantageous.
