Geos 3 data processing for the recovery of geoid undulations and gravity anomalies

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1979
Approximately 2000 arcs of Geos 3 altimeter data have been analyzed to determine geoid undulations and mean and point gravity anomalies. Since the altimeter data are subject to orbit error and bias, an error model was developed to remove such errors by comparing the altimeter geoid to the geoid implied by the Gem 9 coefficients.

GGMCalc a software for calculation of the geoid undulation and the height anomaly using the iteration method, and classical gravity anomaly

Earth Science Informatics, 2012
The Global Geopotential Models (GGMs) are very significant because of their usefulness in determination of the parameters like geoidal undulations, height anomalies, gravity anomalies, and so on. In this paper, first, we review the calculation of such parameters and then present the GGMCalc software, which is prepared in Fortran 95 under GNU/Linux ...

Self-consistent statistical models for the gravity anomaly, vertical deflections, and undulation of the geoid

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1972
Mathematical relationships exist between the anomaly, deflections, and undulation that constrain the models for the autocorrelation and cross-correlation functions of these processes. In previous work, constraints between the anomaly and deflections have been recognized, but constraints relating to the undulation have been ignored.

Geoid Undulation Caused by the Heterogeneity of the Lithosphere and Mantle in Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, China

1995
The development of modern geodesy and space techniques and the progress of gravity field approximation theory enables the precise determination of the global or local geoid undulation to come true. In the mean time, the contribution of theoretical seismology reveals the large-scale 3-D aspherical structure existing in the earth interior, which provides

The accuracy of geoid undulations by degree implied by mean gravity anomalies on a sphere

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1979
Formulae are derived for the resolution of the geoid undulations by degree implied by mean gravity anomalies. The two error sources considered are the propagation of the mean anomaly errors and the error due to lack of more detailed data than the mean anomalies.

Calculation of geoid undulations and gravity anomalies in the South China Sea by using the TOPEX/Poseidon and Geosat altimeter data

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
In this paper, using TOPEX/Poseidon (9~346cycle) and Geosat/ERM(1~60cycle) altimeter data, the author applies combined adjustment model for calculating the South China Sea geoid undulations after data preprocessing. The difference between calculation result and OSU91A model is 30cm (spatial resolution is 22km).

Preliminary Results for the Simultaneous Estimation of Geoid Undulations and Sea Surface Topography by Geosat Altimeter Data

1993
Satellite altimeter data contains information about the heights of the geoid above the reference ellipsoid, the geoid undulations, the heights of the sea surface above the geoid, the sea surface topography and the radial component of the orbital error. The deviation of the sea surface from the geoid is mainly caused by currents and tidal effects.

The joint use of gravity data and GPS/levelling undulations in geoid estimation procedures.

2008
Coupled observations of GPS and levelling data are nowadays commonly available. In Italy, IGM has surveyed more than 1000 levelling points with GPS. On these GPS/levelling points, one can get thè geoid undulation by simply subtracting thè orthometric height from thè ellipsoidal height (Heiskanen and Moritz, 1993). This large and reliable data set of
