Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Optical birefringence in uniaxially compressed aerogels
The uniaxial strain dependence of refractive index anisotropy has been measured for a series of high-porosity aerogel samples. Uniaxial compression of compliant aerogels introduces an optical activity into the material. We report on the compression-dependent optical birefringence of samples with porosities from 95 to 99% under a uniaxial compression of

A compressive damage model for a rock considering the microcrack mechanical behavior
The contributions of the microcrack sliding and propagation to the rock total deformation, the mixed propagation criterion of the microcrack, and the influence of the rock damage degree on the number of the activated microcracks are not completely ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.
