Mechanical Responses of a Deeply Buried Granite Exposed to Multilevel Uniaxial and Triaxial Cyclic Stresses: Insights into Deformation Behavior, Energy Dissipation, and Hysteresis

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
This article presents the results for cyclic uni/triaxial tests on the deeply seated granite samples drilled from a −915 m deep tunnel in Sanshandao (SSD) gold mine.

Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

Strength and Failure Characteristics of Natural and Water-Saturated Coal Specimens under Static and Dynamic Loads

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
Rock bursts occur frequently in coal mines, and the mechanical properties of saturated coal specimens under coupled static-dynamic loading need to be studied in detail.

DYNAMIC OF PRESSURE-DEFORMATION CURVE IN UNIAXIAL COMPRESSION TEST IN DIFFERENT LOAD TIMES [PDF]

open access: yesEngenharia Agrícola, 2017
: The loading application time by machinery tires and agricultural tires is one of the factors of soil compaction. We evaluated the effect of loading reduction time in uniaxial compression test, in laboratory, in some physical and mechanical parameters ...

Discrepancies Between Micro Versus Macroscale Viscoelastic Properties in a Microplastic‐Tissue Composite Model

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the discrepancies between bulk mechanics and spatial mapping in a tissue‐mimetic hydrogel model. Microplastic particles create localized stiff mechanical microenvironments that are detectable by cellular‐scale nanoindentation but leave bulk properties unchanged as measured by rheology.

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Scaling Of Discrete Element Model Parameters In Uniaxial Test Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study investigates the scaling of DEM model parameters that are necessary to produce scale independent predictions for cohesionless and cohesive solid under confined compression and unconfined compression to failure.

Recommendation of RILEM TC 281-CCC: Test method to determine the effect of uniaxial compression load and uniaxial tension load on concrete carbonation depth

open access: yesMaterials and Structures, 2023
The combination of environmental actions and mechanical load, which most structural concretes are subjected to, has a synergetic effect on the durability of concrete. The comparative test conducted by RILEM TC 281-CCC WG4 demonstrated and quantified the effect of an applied mechanical load on carbonation performance of concrete with supplementary ...

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.
