Characterization of dynamic fatigue life by the uniaxial tensile test
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1995Abstract The equations for fatigue potential energy and the lethargy coefficient are derived from the dynamic fatigue life equation, whilst the static fatigue equation is used in the uniaxial tensile test for a damage accumulation process. Microstructural processes during high-cycle fatigue are investigated according to plastic strain-hardening ...

Development of a uniaxial ice tensile specimen for low temperature testing
Cold Regions Science and Technology, 1984Abstract The objective of this research was to develop uniaxial ice tensile specimens that could be tested at temperatures ranging from 255 K down to 150 K. Standard tensile specimens were produced using a mold constructed from a room temperature vulcanizing rubber which was equipped with aluminium end mounts.

Determination of fracture toughness by means of the uniaxial tensile test
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1995Abstract The dynamic fatigue-life equation is applied to the uniaxial tensile test. The resultant equations for the surface energy and fracture toughness are calculated with the data from the tensile test and compared with those from the ASTM E399 test.

A simplified model of heat generation during the uniaxial tensile test
Metallurgical Transactions A, 1987The temperature rise in a sheet tensile specimen has been calculated by the finite difference method for a plain-carbon steel at various strain rates and in several environments. Prior to necking, a uniform heat generation function is used with the governing flow equation while during the post-uniform strain, an empirical heat generation function is ...

Application of Digital Image Correlation in Uniaxial Tensile Test
2015Application fields of non-contact measurement techniques have been recently increasing by means of optics and technological development in measurement applications. Digital image correlation (DIC) is the one and powerful non-contact measurement method that can be used to obtain elongation and strain as well.

Biomechanical properties of porcine cornea; planar biaxial tests versus uniaxial tensile tests
Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical MaterialsThe cornea is a transparent tissue whose mechanical properties are important for its optical and physiological functions. The mechanical properties of cornea depend on the composition and microstructure of its extracellular matrix, which is composed of collagen fibrils with preferential orientations.
