Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Non-destructive Identification of Direction of Orthotrophy of Paperboard
The eigenmodes of bending vibrations of packaging materials as of a plate for various directions of orthotrophy are analyzed. The obtained results are used in the process of identification of machine direction and cross direction of paperboard.

Piezoelectric-based apparatus for strain tuning [PDF]
We report the design and construction of piezoelectric-based apparatus for applying continuously tuneable compressive and tensile strains to test samples. It can be used across a wide temperature range, including cryogenic temperatures.

Failure Process of Rock in Uniaxial Tension.
The behavior of rock in tension is considered to be as important as in compression for designing underground structures, especially large ones. But few results of tensile tests have been reported. The servo-controlled testing machine was used in this study, and uniaxial tension tests were conducted on six rocks (one granite, one andesite, one tuff and ...

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Inherent tensile strength of molybdenum nanocrystals
The strength of Mo nanorods was measured under uniaxial tension. Tensile tests of lang 110rang-oriented single-crystalline molybdenum rod-shaped specimens with diameters from 25 to 90 nm at the apex were conducted inside a field-ion microscope (FIM). The

Basic concepts and models in continuum damage mechanics [PDF]
In this paper, we present some basic elements of macroscopic modelling of damage. We then recall the general approach of continuum damage based on the thermodynamics of irreversible processes and its application to isotropic damage modelling.
