Piezosurgical Treatment of Unicystic Ameloblastoma

The original radiographic image suggested an odontogenic cyst.Methods: The surgical enucleation and osteotomy of the residual cavity were performed with a piezoelectric knife.

Unicystic Ameloblastoma - Case Report
Annals of Surgical Case Reports, 2022Ameloblastoma is a slow-growing locally aggressive, benign odontogenic epithelium with a greater tendency for recurrence and involves aggressive bone loss and teeth. It is believed to be derived from cell rests of the enamel organ, either remnants of dental lamina or Hertwig's sheath, the epithelial rest of Malassez.

Unicystic ameloblastoma in the sudan
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 19897 Sudanese patients, 4 females and 3 males, aged 15 to 56 years, were seen with a preoperative diagnosis of odontogenic cyst. The lesions were removed via conservative surgical enucleation. The histological interpretation was unicystic ameloblastoma. Despite the conservative treatment, all 7 patients are free of recurrence up to 6 years after surgery.
