Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

A Unified Gas-Kinetic Immersed Boundary Method for Non-Equilibrium Fluid-Structure Interactions

open access: yes气体物理
This study addressed key challenges in numerical simulations of the coupling between multi-scale flows and immersed bodies, including the breakdown of continuum assumptions, prohibitive costs of dynamic mesh regeneration, and difficulties in enforcing ...

Comparison Graphs: a Unified Method for Uniformity Testing

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
Distribution testing can be described as follows: $q$ samples are being drawn from some unknown distribution $P$ over a known domain $[n]$. After the sampling process, a decision must be made about whether $P$ holds some property, or is far from it. The most studied problem in the field is arguably uniformity testing, where one needs to distinguish the

Effect of DFPP on Ferroptosis in Peripheral Blood CD14+ Monocytes of Hyperlipidemic Patients Involving the ACSL4/LPCAT3/ALOX5 Pathway

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Although statins are the cornerstone of lipid‐lowering therapy, their use may be limited in some patients by adverse effects. This study evaluated the possible impact of non‐drug treatment using double‐filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) on CD14+

Unified Native Spaces in Kernel Methods

open access: yesCoRR
There exists a plethora of parametric models for positive definite kernels, and their use is ubiquitous in disciplines as diverse as statistics, machine learning, numerical analysis, and approximation theory. Usually, the kernel parameters index certain features of an associated process.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

An Analytical Solution to the 1D Drainage Problem

open access: yesMathematics
We derive an analytical solution to the one-dimensional linearized Boussinesq equation with mixed boundary conditions (Dirichlet–Neumann), formulated to describe drainage in porous media.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
