A control strategy for unified power quality conditioner [PDF]

open access: yes2003 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics ( Cat. No.03TH8692), 2004
This paper presents a control strategy for a unified power quality conditioner. This control strategy is used in three-phase three-wire systems. The UPQC device combines a shunt-active filter together with a series-active filter in a back-to-back configuration, to simultaneously compensate the supply voltage and the load current.

Interline hybrid unified power quality conditioner

2016 18th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'16 ECCE Europe), 2016
This paper proposes a new interline hybrid unified power quality conditioner (IHUPQC) structure to improve the power quality of distribution feeders and to decrease the power ratings/voltages and switching losses of voltage source converters (VSCs). The IHUPQC consists of dynamic voltage restorer (DVR), an isolated dc-dc converter and a shunt hybrid ...

Unified Hybrid Power Quality Conditioner (UHPQC)

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2010
This paper proposes the Unified Hybrid Power Quality Conditioner (UHPQC). The proposed topology manipulates, at the same time and in continuous way, the displacement power factor and also it mitigates the dominant harmonic component of the line current.

Constant frequency-unified power quality conditioner

2011 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical and Computer Technology, 2011
The aim of this paper is to maintain the constant frequency in the utility using constant frequency unified power quality conditioner. A constant frequency unified power quality conditioning system (CF-UPQC) consists of a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) and a Matrix converter based frequency changer.

Unified Power Quality Conditioner

2002
A unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) is a device that is similar in construction to a unified power flow conditioner (UPFC) [1]. The UPQC, like a UPFC, employs two voltage source inverters (VSIs) that are connected to a common dc energy storage capacitor.

Fuzzy based unified power quality conditioner for power quality improvement

2013 International Conference on Circuits, Power and Computing Technologies (ICCPCT), 2013
Non-linear loads are normally affected by power quality (PQ) problems. Harmonic currents create system resonance, capacitor overloading, decrease in efficiency. Voltage sags are commonly occurring power quality problems in electrical systems. The unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) is one of the FACTS controllers used for mitigating the effect of ...

Parameters evaluation of Unified Power Quality Conditioner

2011 IEEE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ELECTRO/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, 2011
The term of “Power Quality” is used to describe the electromagnetic phenomenon in variations of voltage and current in the power system. Most power quality disturbances can come from the facility itself, such as large loads turning on simultaneously, improper wiring and grounding practices, the start-up of large motors and electronic equipments that ...

Distributed Generation based Unified Power Quality Conditioner

2015 International Conference on Electrical, Electronics, Signals, Communication and Optimization (EESCO), 2015
Distributed Generation (DG) source in a power system is used in direct and indirect modes. Direct mode includes the application of DG during source outage, for voltage profile improvement, etc. In the indirect mode, DG is used in conjunction with a static compensator like Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC), Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) for ...

Instantaneous power theory based Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC)

2010 Joint International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems & 2010 Power India, 2010
This paper presents a novel control strategy for the case of 3-phase 3-wire Unified Power-Quality Conditioner (UPQC) based on the concepts of instantaneous active and reactive Power theory. The UPQCs is one of the major custom power solutions capable of mitigating the effect of supply voltage sags / swells, distortion, unbalance voltage at the point of
