Bounds for the Effective Shear Modulus
This paper deals with the uniform torsion of nonhomogeneus elastic beams. The concept of the effective shear modulus is deduced from torsional rigidity. Upper and lower bounds are derived for the effective shear modulus.

Quantum Codes of Maximal Distance and Highly Entangled Subspaces [PDF]
We present new bounds on the existence of general quantum maximum distance separable codes (QMDS): the length $n$ of all QMDS codes with local dimension $D$ and distance $d \geq 3$ is bounded by $n \leq D^2 + d - 2$.

Semiclassical limits of eigenfunctions on flat $n$-dimensional tori [PDF]
We provide a proof of the conjecture formulated in \cite{Jak97,JNT01} which states that on a $n$-dimensional flat torus $\T^{n}$, the Fourier transform of squares of the eigenfunctions $|\phi_\lambda|^2$ of the Laplacian have uniform $l^n$ bounds that do

Uniform error bounds for smoothing splines [PDF]
Almost sure bounds are established on the uniform error of smoothing spline estimators in nonparametric regression with random designs. Some results of Einmahl and Mason (2005) are used to derive uniform error bounds for the approximation of the spline ...

Effect of Signal-Dependent Shot Noise on Visible Light Positioning
This paper investigates the error bounds for position estimation in downlink visible light communication (VLC) systems. More precisely, we use Cramér-Rao lower bounds (CRLBs) to study the effect of signal-dependent shot noise (SDSN) on the error ...

Uniform bounds for Weil–Petersson curvatures
We find bounds for Weil-Petersson holomorphic sectional curvature, and the Weil-Petersson curvature operator in several regimes, that do not depend on the topology of the underlying surface. Among other results, we show that the minimal (most negative) eigenvalue of the curvature operator at any point in the Teichm ller space $\Teich(S_g)$ of a closed

On Multivariate Bernstein Polynomials
In this paper, we first revisit and bring together as a sort of survey, properties of Bernstein polynomials of one variable. Secondly, we extend the results from one variable to several ones, namely—uniform convergence, uniform convergence of the ...

On the α-Spectral Radius of Uniform Hypergraphs
For 0 ≤ α ---lt--- 1 and a uniform hypergraph G, the α-spectral radius of G is the largest H-eigenvalue of αD(G)+(1−α)A(G), where D(G) and A(G) are the diagonal tensor of degrees and the adjacency tensor of G, respectively. We give upper bounds for the α-
