A Study of Missing Web-Cites in Scholarly Articles: Towards an Evaluation Framework

open access: yes, 2004
This paper reports on a study that examined citation practice in a set of scholarly papers. After evaluating 2162 bibliographic references it was found that 48.1% (1041) of all citations used in the papers referred to a Web-located resource.

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Population dynamical behavior of Lotka-Volterra system under regime switching

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, we investigate a Lotka-Volterra system under regime switching dx(t) = diag(x1(t); : : : ; xn(t))[(b(r(t)) + A(r(t))x(t))dt + (r(t))dB(t)]; where B(t) is a standard Brownian motion.

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Mathematical analysis for an age-structured HIV infection model with saturation infection rate

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2015
In this article, we study a continuous age-structured HIV infection model. For the case of the saturation infection rate, the basic reproduction number $\Re_0$ is shown to be a sharp threshold value for the global dynamics; that is, the infection ...

Perennial summer pasture options in Tablelands environments where drought and soil acidity jeopardise pasture persistence

open access: yesGrassland Research
Background The persistence of summer‐active perennial species is critical for pasture‐fed meat production in the temperate, uniform rainfall environment of south‐eastern Australia. Methods To investigate the limitations of important pasture species under

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

EFFECTS OF DOMAIN SIZE ON THE PERSISTENCE OF POPULATIONS IN A DIFFUSIVE FOOD‐CHAIN MODEL WITH BEDDINGTON‐DeANGELIS FUNCTIONAL RESPONSE

open access: yes, 2001
A food chain consisting of species at three trophic levels is modeled using Beddington‐DeAngelis functional responses as the links between trophic levels.

Inferring spatially varying bending stiffness of biopolymers with deep-learning approach

open access: yesMachine Learning: Science and Technology
The bendability of biopolymers, including DNA, actin filaments, and microtubules, is crucial to diverse biological processes, such as cell motility and cytoskeletal organization.

Enhancing Bubble Removal in Geometry‐Optimized Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
3D‐printed lattice electrodes outperform stochastic foams in alkaline water electrolysis despite 20%–25% lower surface area. Straight flow channels generate Venturi‐like bubble entrainment, suppressing gas accumulation that renders foam interiors electrochemically inactive.
