Uniformly Convex Metric Spaces
Abstract In this paper the theory of uniformly convex metric spaces is developed. These spaces exhibit ageneralized convexity of the metric from a fixed point. Using a (nearly) uniform convexity property a simpleproof of reflexivity is presented and a weak topology of such spaces is analyzed.

Locally Uniformly Convex Banach Spaces [PDF]
which we shall call local uniform convexity. Geometrically this differs from uniform convexity in that it is required that one end point of the variable chord remain fixed. In section I we prove a general theorem on the product of locally uniformly convex Banach spaces and with the aid of this theorem we establish that the two notions are actually ...

Martingale representation in uniformly convex spaces [PDF]
In this paper we define the concept of a martingale in a uniformly convex Banach space and show that each bounded martingale is convergent and can be represented as a sequence of nearest point projections onto closed convex sets of one element of the Banach space.

Uniformly Convex and Uniformly Starlike Functions
A normalized univalent function is uniformly convex if it maps every circular arc contained in the open unit disk with center in it into a convex curve. This article surveys recent results on the class of uniformly convex functions and on an analogous class of uniformly starlike functions.

Linear Bandits on Uniformly Convex Sets
Linear bandit algorithms yield $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}(n\sqrt{T})$ pseudo-regret bounds on compact convex action sets $\mathcal{K}\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ and two types of structural assumptions lead to better pseudo-regret bounds. When $\mathcal{K}$ is the simplex or an $\ell_p$ ball with $p\in]1,2]$, there exist bandits algorithms with $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}(\

This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

ON UNIFORMLY CONVEX AND UNIFORMLY 2-CONVEX 2-NORMED SPACES
The author starts with the definition of two-norm on a linear space of dimension greater than 1 and defines a uniformly convex 2-normed space extending the definition of J. A. Clarkson. Theorems 1-5 and some corollaries are established on uniformly convex and uniformly 2-convex 2- normed spaces.

On uniformly convex functions [PDF]
The author introduces the class \(UCV\) of uniformly convex functions which consists of those convex functions \(f\) transforming any circular arc in the unit disk \(E\) with center \(\zeta\in E\) into a convex arc. He shows that \(f\in UCV\) if and only if \[ 1+\hbox{Re}\left({f''(z) \over f'(z)}(z- \zeta)\right)\geq 0, \] for every pair \((z,\zeta ...

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.
