Unilateral Contact with Bounces

1995
The aim of the study is to take in interest in the dynamic behaviour of rigid body systems in unilateral contact with friction. The friction law is the law of Coulomb. Which are the parameters which determine the transition between a smooth motion and a motion with collisions ?

Nonconvex Unilateral Contact Problems

1992
We consider a three-dimensional linear elastic body subjected to nonmonotone multivalued boundary conditions which are obtained from nonconvex superpotentials (cf. Sect. 1.3.3). The procedure which we follow remains valid also for shells, plates, beams etc.

On Unilateral Contact Between Rigid Masonry Blocks

2020
In this contribution we discuss a new framework for the analysis of the bearing capacity of masonry structures, modeled as assemblies of rigid blocks, which allows to correctly take into account the influence of foundation settlements. The crack pattern at failure and the associated mechanism are described by means of a proper treatment of unilateral ...

Analysis of Unilateral Contact Problem

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1976
In the analysis of structures, one sometimes encounters situations in which the boundary presents a unilateral contact with a support. The term, unilateral contact, means that it is not known, a priori, which part of the boundary works itself loose from the support and which part remains in contact with it.

Asymptotic numerical methods for unilateral contact

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2006
New algorithms based upon the asymptotic numerical method (ANM) are proposed to solve unilateral contact problems. ANM leads to a representation of a solution path in terms of series or Pade approximants. To get a smooth solution path, a hyperbolic relation between contact forces and clearance is introduced.

Stability in Unilateral Contact Problems with Dry Friction

2013
We discuss stability in the case of systems with unilateral contact and Coulomb friction. Classical stability results for dynamical systems concern perturbations of the initial data in a classical phase space. Here we establish results concerning the trajectories issued from a perturbation of the external forces.

Unilateral Contacts in Machine Dynamics

1999
Machine dynamics offers a great variety of contact problems ranging from impacts to gliding and rolling. Typical examples are cam follower and cam roller devices as well as all kinds of gears. There are numerous papers in the literature devoted to one or the other machine design with contact.

Contact Unilateral Avec Adherence

1985
