The Effect of Sleep Deprivation on the Vestibulo‐Ocular Reflex and Vestibular Adaptation in Healthcare Night‐Shift Workers

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 9, Page 3364-3370, September 2025.
This study examined the effects of sleep deprivation on the vestibulo‐ocular reflex (VOR) in healthcare night‐shift workers. Results showed a significant reduction in VOR gain (7.5%) during passive head movements toward far targets after a night shift, whereas other VOR functions and gaze stability remained unaffected.

Video head impulse test (vHIT) unravels the hidden pathology in chronic vestibular deficit

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Otolaryngology
Background The caloric test is persistently altered in chronic peripheral vestibular hypofunction (PVH). So, we cannot depend on it to measure the degree of compensation in chronic vestibulopathy patients who are still complaining.

Vestibular Rehabilitation Using Dynamic Posturography: Functional Stability and Fall Risk Outcomes From a Randomized Trial

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Volume 173, Issue 3, Page 713-723, September 2025.
Abstract Objective To compare computerized vestibular retraining therapy (CVRT) to a home exercise program (HEP) for the treatment of unilateral vestibular deficits. Study Design Randomized, unblinded, interventional study with single crossover. Setting This study was performed in a tertiary neurotology clinic.

Longitudinal comparison of adaptive neuroplasticity in two rat models of unilateral vestibulopathy by dual-tracer [18F]FDG and [18F]UCB-H PET

open access: yesNeuroImage
Animal models of acute unilateral vestibulopathy are well established for the study of adaptive lesion-induced neuroplasticity, because symptoms of acute vestibular asymmetry such as nystagmus and postural imbalance recover over time as central ...

Contrast Agent Uptake in Endolymphatic Sac and Duct: Inverse Relation to Endolymphatic Hydrops

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 8, Page 2914-2922, August 2025.
Question: Is there a disease‐specific abnormality of the endolymphatic sac and duct system (ES/ED) in delayed, contrast‐enhanced inner ear MRI in patients with Ménière's disease (MD) and vestibular migraine (VM) that correlates with the endolymphatic hydrops (ELH)?

Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in an Immunocompetent Patient With West Nile Encephalitis

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 10, Issue 4, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is a frequently encountered condition that is often idiopathic but may be precipitated by infection. Neuroinvasive disease resulting from West Nile virus (WNV) is a rare cause of SSNHL, typically affecting immunocompromised patients and generally associated with minimal hearing recovery.

The Correlation Between Fear Avoidance Beliefs and Physical Activity in Unilateral Vestibulopathies

open access: yesJournal of Neurologic Physical Therapy
Background and Purpose: In individuals with unilateral vestibulopathy (UVP), physical activity (PA) is recommended to stimulate central vestibular compensation. However, the presence of fear avoidance beliefs might negatively influence PA.

Acute unilateral vestibulopathy: a practical diagnostic approach and new insight on management

open access: yes, 2023
Acute unilateral vestibulopathy (AUV) is the recommended term (rather than the more widely used vestibular neuritis) for all pathologies involving sudden impairment of the unilateral peripheral vestibular function regardless of the exact location of the ...

Adherence to customized vestibular rehabilitation therapy: influencing factors and clinical implications in vestibulopathy

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
ObjectiveCustomized vestibular rehabilitation therapy (CVRT) is an effective treatment approach for various vestibular disorders. However, low adherence significantly limits its efficacy, and factors influencing adherence remain underexplored. This study
