Uniportal VATS for mediastinal nodal diagnosis and staging [PDF]
The objective of the present study was to assess feasibility of single port (uniportal) VATS in the diagnosis and staging of mediastinal nodal enlargements. To this purpose, between January 2002 and October 2005, 13 patients (8 males and 5 females; mean age 54 years) have undergone uniportal VATS sampling of mediastinal nodes either as part of a ...

Detection and selection: low‐dose CT screening (within “A breath for life” program). Identification of small, peripheral, non‐subpleural GGOs or sub‐solid nodules (< 25 mm). Preoperative localization. C‐arm cone beam CT (CBCT)‐guided microcoil placement.

This report describes a cosmetically superior approach to submammary rib tumor resection. Surgical resection is the most effective method for the treatment of rib tumors. Common surgical methods include thoracotomy and thoracoscopic surgery.

Image‐guided segmentectomy using near‐infrared fluorescence dye improves tumor localization and intersegmental plane identification. Compared with traditional segmentectomy, it achieves wider resection margins and higher margin‐to‐tumor ratios, especially for tumors > 1 cm, without increasing operative time.

This study examines uniportal robotic‐assisted thoracic surgery (uRATS) for lung anatomic resections. Modified trocar techniques reduced incision size after a 20‐case learning curve. Stable operative metrics and low complications suggest safety and feasibility. uRATS may improve recovery and aesthetics for early‐stage lung cancer patients.

In 55 patients with second primary nonsmall‐cell lung cancer (NSCLC), repeated anatomical video‐assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) resections—mostly segmentectomies—were safe and effective. Despite a higher rate of air leak and atrial fibrillation, morbidity and length of stay were similar to initial surgery.

A Rare Case of Intramediastinal Humeral Head Fracture Dislocation Through the Thoracic Inlet
ABSTRACT Intramediastinal fracture dislocation of the humeral head due to a blunt trauma is very rare. It may be accompanied by local and systemic injuries associated with high‐energy trauma. Only one case has been reported in the literature; therefore, an appropriate treatment modality remains unclear. We present a case of a 71‐year‐old woman involved
