Tumour Localisation With ICG‐Soaked Embolisation Coils Without Robotic Bronchoscopy: First German Experience

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Accurate localisation of small or non‐palpable pulmonary lesions is critical for successful minimally invasive resection. We present a four‐patient case series—the first in Germany—where ICG‐soaked embolisation coils were placed using ultrathin bronchoscopy, a standard cytology brush catheter and cone beam CT (CBCT) guidance, without robotic ...

Research Trends in Pain Management After Thoracoscopic Surgery (2015–2024): A Bibliometric Analysis

open access: yesPain Research and Management, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Thoracoscopic surgery, a representative minimally invasive approach in thoracic surgery, is increasingly employed. However, postoperative pain remains a significant barrier to recovery and quality of life. We aimed to quantitatively analyze research on postoperative pain following thoracoscopic surgery over the past decade; to identify the ...

Survival Effectiveness of Uniport Anatomic Resections in Patients With Clinical Stage I Lung Cancer: An Observation Cohort Study

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 19, October 2025.
Uniportal VATS segmentectomy and lobectomy yielded similar long‐term survival in stage I NSCLC. Segmentectomy offered faster recovery but fewer N1 nodes. Recurrence was local in stage IA and distant in higher stages, emphasizing stage‐specific surveillance. CTR > 0.5 and stage ≥ IB predicted recurrence.

C‐Arm Cone Beam CT‐Guided Preoperative Microcoil Pulmonary Ground Glass Nodule Localization: Diagnostic and Surgical Advantage

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 17, September 2025.
Detection and selection: low‐dose CT screening (within “A breath for life” program). Identification of small, peripheral, non‐subpleural GGOs or sub‐solid nodules (< 25 mm). Preoperative localization. C‐arm cone beam CT (CBCT)‐guided microcoil placement.

Off-Label Use of T-Tube as Chest Drainage for Uniportal Surgery

open access: yes, 2021
Uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery implies the positioning of a single chest drain at the mid thorax level. Therefore, this tube cannot reach simultaneously the basal and apical regions of the pleural cavity.
