Rationality of extended unipotent characters
AbstractWe determine the rationality properties of unipotent characters of finite reductive groups arising as fixed points of disconnected reductive groups under a Frobenius map. In the proof, we use realisations of characters in $$\ell $$ ℓ -adic cohomology groups of Deligne–Lusztig varieties as well as block ...

Notes on unipotent classes [PDF]
The purpose of this paper is to take some of the mystery out of the concept of a special unipotent conjugacy class by giving a more geometric treatment in terms of the closely related special pieces introduced by \textit{N. Spaltenstein} [Classes unipotentes et sous-groupes de Borel, Lect. Notes Math. 946 (1982; Zbl 0486.20025)].

Unipotent centralizers in algebraic groups
Let \(G\) be a simple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field \(K\) of characteristic \(p>0\) with \(p\) a good prime for \(G\). Let \(u\in G\) be unipotent. Canonical embeddings of \(u\) in Abelian unipotent subgroups are studied to obtain results about \(C_G(u)\) -- in particular, \(Z(C_G(u))\) and the reductive part of \(C_G(u)\).

Unipotent variety in the group compactification
The unipotent variety of a reductive algebraic group $G$ plays an important role in the representation theory. In this paper, we will consider the closure $\bar{\Cal U}$ of the unipotent variety in the De Concini-Procesi compactification $\bar{G}$ of a connected simple algebraic group $G$. We will prove that $\bar{\Cal U}-\Cal U$ is a union of some $G$-

Upper Triangularity for Unipotent Representations
Suppose $G$ is a real reductive group. The determination of the irreducible unitary representations of $G$ is one of the major unsolved problem in representation theory. There is evidence to suggest that every irreducible unitary representation of $G$ can be constructed through a sequence of well-understood operations from a finite set of building ...
