External Uniqueness Is Unique Enough [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
External uniqueness is a surprising new way to add unique references to an OOPL. The idea is that an externally unique reference is the only reference into an aggregate from outside the aggregate. Internal references which do not escape the boundary of the aggregate are innocuous and therefore permitted.

The uniqueness of the rational Bézier polygon is unique

open access: yesComputer Aided Geometric Design, 2022
Given a properly parameterized rational Bézier curve of irreducible degree, it is well-known that its control polygon is uniquely defined. We prove that this property is peculiar to the Bézier model. In the rational form associated with any other normalized polynomial basis, Moebius reparameterizations change the control polygon, so the same segment ...

Fourier Uniqueness and Non-Uniqueness Pairs

open access: yesZurnal matematiceskoj fiziki, analiza, geometrii
Motivated by recent works by Radchenko and Viazovska and by Ramos and Sousa, we find sufficient conditions for a pair of discrete subsets of the real line to be a uniqueness or a non-uniqueness pair for the Fourier transform. These conditions are close to each other.

Amenability and uniqueness

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics, 2013
The main result of this paper is a characterization of properly infinite injective von Neumann algebras and of nuclear C*-algebras by using a uniqueness theorem, based on generalizations of Voiculescu's famous Weyl-von Neumann theorem.

Non uniqueness and uniqueness of capillary surfaces

open access: yesManuscripta Mathematica, 1988
A capillary surface is a two dimensional surface in \({\mathbb{R}}^ 3\), whose mean curvature H(x), \(x\in {\mathbb{R}}^ 3\), \(x=(x_ 1,x_ 2,x_ 3)\), is a given function and which meets the prescribed boundary walls of the container C in a prescribed angle \(\gamma\) ; a volume constraint is also included.

Primate Social Cognition: Uniquely Primate, Uniquely Social, or Just Unique? [PDF]

open access: yesNeuron, 2010
Primates undoubtedly have impressive abilities in perceiving, recognizing, manipulating, and predicting other individuals, but only great apes seem to recognize the cognitive basis of manipulative and cooperative tactics or the concept of self. None of these abilities is unique to primates.

The uniqueness of hypergravity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
AbstractWe show that consistent interactions of a spin-2 and a higher-spin Majorana fermion gauge fields in 30 fiat space lead uniquely to Aragone-Deser hypergravity or its generalization. Our analysis employs the ERST-cohomological techniques, and works in the metric-like formulation under the assumptions of locality, parity and Poincaré invariance ...

: A Unique Launch of a Unique Journal

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Kidney Health and Disease, 2014
Usually inaugural editorials are written by the Editor-in-Chief to describe the scope and vision for the journal to potential authors and readers. This editorial is written by the Editor-in-Chief, the Deputy Editors and the Associate Editors collaboratively as a clear signal that this is a unique and different journal.
