An Optimization Method for Iteration Path Search of Large-Scale Power Grid Unit Commitment State

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao
To address the computational challenge posed by the “curse of dimensionality” inherent in traditional branch and bound algorithms for large-scale power grid unit commitment problems, an optimization method for iteration path search of unit commitment ...

Why human connection is the true metric of research success

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Compressed Air Energy Storage-Part II: Application to Power System Unit Commitment

open access: yes, 2017
Unit commitment (UC) is one of the most important power system operation problems. To integrate higher penetration of wind power into power systems, more compressed air energy storage (CAES) plants are being built.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Durable Goods Monopoly with Endogenous Quality [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines the dynamic pricing problem of a durable-good monopolist when product quality is endogenous. It is shown that the relationship between the firm's quality choice and the time-inconsistency problem crucially depends on how the unit ...

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Power System Day-Ahead Unit Commitment Based on Chance-Constrained Dependent Chance Goal Programming

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
In the context of large-scale renewable energy integrated into an electrical power system, the effects of power forecast errors on the power balance equation of the power system unit commitment model is considered.

Large-scale decentralized unit commitment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 2015
Abstract A method for formulating and solving a decentralized unit commitment problem is presented in this work. The method, which extends the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), is presented along with several heuristics and refinements to mitigate oscillations and traps in local optimality that result from the nonconvexity of unit ...
